No Plates Coffee: Reviews & Ratings
Addictive Desserts & Great Vibe! A truly exceptional coffee spot right off John Street! The atmosphere is small, pleasant, and focused on high-quality specialty coffee and matcha drinks. But the real reason to visit is their desserts served in cute, grab&go glass jars. I wasn't even planning on getting a dessert, but the blueberry coconut chia pudding ended up in my hand and vanished before I realized it—seriously delicious and made with top-notch ingredients right there in the shop. The founders are friendly, passionate, and even speak Russian! Five stars for quality, concept, and those addictive desserts. Highly recommend checking them out!
From the moment I placed my order, the staff were incredibly kind and explained the menu in such a friendly and helpful way. Their warm service continued throughout my visit, and I was truly impressed. I had the honey burrata cheese sandwich, an iced latte, and the raspberry crumble pudding — everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly made. The iced latte was honestly the best I’ve had during my two weeks in New York. I had such a wonderful experience here, and if I ever come back to New York, this will definitely be one of the first places I return to.
I popped in here for a quick coffee to go, not sure if this would be gimmicky based on the number of speciality desserts and coffees with unusual flavors. I was impressed as the flat white was smooth and creamy and the coffee was well balanced. Looking forward to returning to try some of the cookies ($6 lotus and pistachio raspberry) and the dessert cups which other reviews have raved about.
A lot of unique drinks in the menu. I got the white rum matcha latte (little bit of white chocolate and non-alcoholic rum mixed into matcha latte) and it was very good. Matcha was just the right amount with a bright deep green color (unlike a lot of matcha lattes these days are very bland and mix in too little powder). Very interesting hint of rum was very delightful!
A charming little hidden cafe! The staff were so friendly and helpful and truly seemed so excited to see each customer. I love the aesthetics and the cute upstairs area is perfect for sitting with friends or studying. I tried to matcha lychee and I must recommend the matcha tiramisu m! I love the cups the drinks come in-so cute!
Had their seasonal white rum matcha and it was delicious! Not too sweet, and the rum was the perfect amount of subtle. It was a tiny bit colder than I would have liked, though. The downstairs space is kind of small but they do have an upstairs area with seating, though I didn’t go up there so I’m not sure how big it was.
I had such a great experience here! The café is very clean and the owner was so kind — he even took the time to explain all the desserts in detail. He knows some Korean greetings too, which made me feel really welcome. Among all the cafés I’ve visited in New York, this is definitely one of the cleanest and nicest. Most importantly, both the desserts and coffee were absolutely delicious! I’m sure Korean visitors will love this place. I’ll definitely come back again!
George is one of the most personable and bright hearted baristas I've ever encountered in the city. Easy to talk to and makes an amazing iced latte! I loved their cake pop too with the dates.

Tucked away just off John Street in New York City, No Plates Coffee is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends quality, creativity, and warmth into one memorable experience. From the moment you step inside this cozy café, you’re greeted by an intimate atmosphere that invites you to savor each sip and bite slowly. The focus here is unmistakably on specialty coffees and unique matcha-based drinks that elevate the typical café routine.
What truly sets No Plates Coffee apart, however, are their inventive desserts served in charming grab-and-go glass jars. These sweet treats, like the standout blueberry coconut chia pudding, are made in-house with premium ingredients, striking a perfect balance between healthful and indulgent. It’s easy to find yourself drawn to these jars, much like Sergey Kovalev, who described the desserts as "addictive" and impossible to resist. The thoughtfully crafted menu caters to diverse palates — from the honey burrata cheese sandwich paired with an incredibly smooth iced latte, lauded as the best during a two-week New York stay, to adventurous blends like the white rum matcha latte that combines bright matcha with subtle notes of white chocolate and non-alcoholic rum.
What impressed me most, beyond the nuanced flavors, was the genuine passion radiating from the founders and staff. Their friendly, attentive service makes every visit feel personal and welcoming. Whether you’re popping in for a quick, balanced flat white or planning to spend time upstairs with friends studying over a matcha tiramisu, No Plates Coffee delivers a harmony of vibe, taste, and aesthetic charm.
